Assets for Health

 

The 21st ETC-Course 'ASSETS FOR HEALTH'

will be held at Glyndwr University in Wrexham, Wales, UK

During this summer course we will explore the theory and practical approaches to assets based approach to health. Assets based approaches are associated with the salutogenic perspective of health, which focus on the health enhancing resources and protective factors within people and societies that create health and wellbeing and increase control over the determinants of health.

The academic programme will include an introductory day of lectures from invited experts from the UK and Europe on Assets for Health. The remaining programme involves interactive lectures in the morning, country profile presentations and international project work in the afternoons. A field trip to communities in North Wales will provide opportunities to experience examples of assets based approaches for health and wellbeing.

Participants will be invited to a formal welcome reception with national and international experts in Health Promotion and Public Health and local dignitaries. Throughout the summer school participants can engage in informal dinners and BBQs, take advantage of the leisure activities in Wrexham and North Wales including the beautiful mountain range of Snowdonia! Accommodation (included in the fee) will be on campus in newly furnished student accommodation, with access to sport activities and 10 minute walk from the centre of town.

Participants will acquire 8 ECTS credits. Accreditation, student accommodation in a single room, lunches during the academic programme (Monday to Friday), catering during morning coffee breaks, learning material etc. are included in the student fee.
